A highlight of race weekend is the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Tribute, which features a selection of vintage race cars rumbling through the streets of Watkins Glen around the original 6.6-mile circuit. As part of the downtown Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen, an estimated 25,000 spectators also celebrate with music, fine food and wine from the region.
Stone Bridge White:
This medium-dry, white wine shines brightly with ripe tangerine, nectarine and thyme on the nose. The taste is juicy and pliant with a hint of minerality framing the citrus and stone fruit flavors. Perfectly balanced to go with a variety of foods ranging from oysters or chicken to vegetarian delights. We find it equally delightful on it’s own. Blending Information: 67% Vidal Blanc, 33% Cayuga. Stone Bridge Red:
This wine combines the vintner’s choice of red wines each year into a signature dry red blend. This release is deep and dark due in particular to the characteristics of the French-American hybrid grape “Maréchal Foch”, often simply referred to as “Foch”. The tannin levels are soft which makes it easy to enjoy young but with a sturdy acidic backbone, it has respectable ageing potential. Aromas of dark fruit and cranberry, lightly herbaceous. Soft tannins on the palate with ripe, wild berry flavors and a velvety smooth finish. The plush fruits are balanced nicely by smoky, leathery, earthy components. Blending Information: 95% Marechal Foch, 5% Cabernet Franc, Time In Oak: Aged eight months in neutral American oak. RESIDUAL SUGAR: .5% ALC: 12.1%
