ABOUT
Crafted for connection
Atwater Vineyards crafts expressive, small-batch wines from our estate on the eastern slopes of Seneca Lake. Our low-intervention approach lets the land speak—each bottle reflecting the vintage, the soil, and the people behind it.
Sustainability isn’t a slogan for us—it’s a promise in progress. Certified by the NY Sustainable Winegrowing Program, we’re committed to thoughtful farming, honest winemaking, and building lasting connections with our guests and community.

stone bridge white 2024
A delightful and refreshing blend of Vidal Blanc, Cayuga White, and Traminette. Aromas of honey and pear are joined by apricot, with nectarine rind, pineapple, and a hint of ginger with moderating acidity on the palate.

Ektasi
2021
The nose of the Èktasi 2021 offers complex notes of dried flowers, marmalade, and candied lemon peel. On the palate, concentrated flavors of apricot, oranges, roasted almonds, and rose tea lead to a finish accompanied by soft tannins and bright acidity.

Dry Rosé of Cabernet Franc / Blaufränkisch 2024
The Dry Rosé of Cabernet Franc / Blaufränkisch 2024 displays aromas of fresh herbs that continues onto the palate along with fresh strawberries, watermelon, and tart cherry. The finish is soft but well-balanced.

Blaufränkisch
2023
The Blaufränkisch 2023 opens with an intense bouquet of violet and licorice, followed by a medley of cherries, cranberries, and red plum. The palate is composed of fresh strawberries, plums, tart cranberries, baking spices and a hint of fresh black peppers accompanied by lively acidity and a medium body, complemented by soft tannins ending with a lengthy finish.

Without the land, we could not make the wine we all love so much. We endeavor to embed sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations, but we are perhaps proudest of our work in the vineyards. The basis for a sustainable vineyard is healthy vines and balanced crop loads. We start with a nutrient management program based on regular and focused testing to make sure that our soils are properly balanced and that fertilizers are only applied when necessary. We then prune our vines and manage our canopies and crop loads to reflect their health in the moment. We are striving for uniform vineyards that produce healthy crops every year. We are moving toward a low or no till system so that we can preserve and nourish the biodiversity of our microbial populations. We utilize mulch between the rows and compost made on our farm to continue to build and replenish the organic matter in our soils. We were among the first cohort of vineyards receiving the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Certification. Certification is based on science backed regionally defined standards and independent third-party audits and reflects our commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Happy Earth Day!Button

Saturday, March 28 5:30-8:30 PM Whether you are new to the world of Pétillant-Naturel, also known as Pét-Nats, or an established fan, you’ll want to join us for a special party to celebrate the release of our most recent Pét-Nats. The Pétillant-Naturel method predates Méthode Champenoise as a way to produce a bubbly wine. We invite you to taste these exciting wines for yourself and learn about their intriguing production methods from head winemaker Wes Andrew. The evening will include: *Tastings of our Pét-Nat Zweigelt/Gewürztraminer 2025 and Pét-Nat Gewürztraminer / Aromella 2024 *Delicious hors d’oeuvres from Sapore *Sneak peek of our upcoming wines *Music from DJ Astro We hope to see you on the 18th! This Thursday, we are having Dave and Jenn’s Karaoke Experience from 6-9 PM. We also have a special pop-up with Alistair’s Distillery. Just miles up the road in Lodi, Alistair Distillery uses single-vineyard grapes from neighboring farms, a hand-built pot still, a combined winemaking and distilling know-how, and a sense of innovation attained from a lifetime of working the farm. The result is a lineup of spirits that evoke creativity and ingenuity. “We want to share the joy we experience at every stage of making Alistair’s spirits. We want to celebrate the achievements of creative thinking, hard work, and perseverance. To inspire by showcasing the beauty that comes from challenging convention. Our passion preserves and transforms the year’s harvest into a treasure to be shared and enjoyed with others.” They will be sharing: 🍸Summer Gin made from these botanicals sourced from our farm and our neighbors: juniper, coriander, fennel, dill, lemongrass, lemon verbana, chamomile, wild chamomile, feverfew, rhubard, orris root, angelica root, spruce tips, lovage, thyme, yarrow. 🍸Eau De Vie of Dry Rose - made from 82% Cabernet Franc and 18% Pinot Noir, grown on the eastern slopes of Seneca Lake. The grapes were pressed directly after being picked and the resulting wine was delicate and crisp before being double-distilled and matured in stainless steel for 10 months. 🍸Eau De Vie Haut Gaut - A blend of heads and tails from the distillations of Chardonnay, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, and Cabernet Franc was redistilled to enhance and intensify the flavor. The resulting profile features ripe tropical fruit notes balanced with hints of petrol and cut grass, creating a distinctive “high taste” or haut goût. 🍸Tequila Barrel Aged Rum - A black strap molasses Rum, with notes of caramel, coconut, and subtle smoke. Three years in a tequila barrel permeates this medium-bodied rum with unique flavors of citrus, spice, and oak. The finish is warm and lingering, with a balanced sweetness. We can vouch for the deliciousness of these spirits, and George will likely include some in the evening’s cocktails!Button

Pinot Noir grapes are notoriously difficult to grow. Their thin skins and tight clusters make them susceptible to frost, disease, rot, and even wind or sun damage. Our winemaking team carefully hand sorts the whole clusters for Pinot Noir before they go into bins to ferment. Any that don’t meet their strict standards are discarded—one of the reasons our Pinot Noir tastes so amazing! Our vineyard team also gives careful attention to the grapes during the growing season to keep them healthy!!Button

🧡HAPPY ORANGE WINE DAY!🧡 Orange, or skin-fermented, wines are white wines made in the style of red wines: the grapes are fermented with skin contact, giving them a complex flavor with more tannins as well as their characteristic amber color. We have two skin-fermented wines on our current list. È𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐢 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 The nose of the Èktasi 2021 offers complex notes of dried flowers, marmalade, and candied lemon peel. On the palate, concentrated flavors of apricot, oranges, roasted almonds, and rose tea lead to a finish accompanied by soft tannins and bright acidity. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧-𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐫ü𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 Our Grüner Veltliner Skin Fermented 2023 is a new take on the increasingly popular aromatic grape. Sourced from Fulkerson Vineyards and Atwater Estate grapes, this golden-yellow wine offers aromas and flavors of yellow apple, Bosc pear, and melon with dried nectarines, Brazil nuts, toffee, and Grüner’s classic white pepper. Skin contact and malolactic fermentation provide texture through tea-like tannins. Consider pairing with chicken Pad See Ew or veggie stir fry.Button

Last week, before harvest officially started, our winemaking team handpicked Pinot Gris for this year’s Pied de Cuve. (Pied du Cuve translates to “foot of the tank.”) Wes uses Pied de Cuve because it allows him to capture a native yeast strain that’s out and about on the grapes and flora in the vineyard. Additionally, it allows him to utilize potentially unique yeasts that are most likely native to the Finger Lakes and even possibly native to the Atwater farm. Wes explains, “There are dozens if not hundreds of native yeast strains naturally occurring on an individual farm. In my mind, it seems like a waste to not utilize them. There can be bad ones too, but by making a pied de cuve, it allows me a bit of safety before using it to inoculate the juice. Knock on wood, I’ve never had a bad pied de cuve, but if I do get a bad one, I can just dump it and start again. It’s essentially a sourdough starter but with grapes.” 📷: @molly.b_photographsButton

Welcome to the family, Èktasi! The Greek word éktasi (έκταση) translates to “expanse” in English. We believe this perfectly reflects Atwater Vineyard’s skin-fermented blend, an enthralling wine with intense and complex flavors that will open your palate and delight your senses. The nose of the Èktasi 2021 (57% Gewürztraminer, 29% Riesling, 14% Chardonnay) offers complex notes of dried flowers, marmalade, and candied lemon peel. On the palate, concentrated flavors of apricot, oranges, roasted almonds, and rose tea lead to a finish accompanied by soft tannins and bright acidity. Yamas! With only 169 cases produced, we expect this vintage to sell out quickly! It is available in our tasting room or online, or if you have a favorite local wine shop, tag them in the comments!Button

Our vineyard team planted two acres of Blaufränkisch this week with a hand from @benchmarkvineyardplanting. Benchmark uses GPS technology to ensure the rows and the vines are perfectly aligned. One of our team follows the tractor to flag any vines that might need special attention. These vines will likely be productive in three to four years, and we’re excited we can bring you more reds! Meanwhile, our Blaufränkisch 2023 is available online and in the tasting room. #atwaterwine #blaufränkisch #viniculture #flxwine #grownheremadehereButton

🌎HAPPY EARTH DAY!🌎 Atwater Vineyards is committed to sustainable viticulture practices to obtain healthier vineyards, increase the quality of our wines, and ultimately create a safer environment for ourselves, our neighbors, and Seneca Lake. We were among the first cohort of vineyards receiving the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Certification. Certification is based on science backed regionally defined standards and independent third-party audits and reflects our commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. You can see the NY Sustainable Winegrowing trustmark on our labels. Beyond the vineyard, we also strive to implement sustainable business practices throughout our facilities. We compost all organic waste, forgo the use of capsules on our bottles, and offset our electric use through solar farm Wallace Farms. We continually endeavor to reduce our footprint and decrease our environmental impact.Button

STAFF FAVORITE! This month, we’re featuring Will’s favorite wine, our Vignoles 2023. “When talking about the vignoles, the best way to describe it is balance. Situated in the off- to semi-dry category, the vignoles sits perfectly for both dry and sweet wine drinkers. A smoother and fruitier start is met with an almost sour apple finish in a wine that is perfect for all wine drinkers. If you see me with a glass of wine, you don’t even need to ask what I’m drinking because it is probably the Vignoles.”—Will Y. Pick up a bottle in our tasting room or online!Button

Happy National Cocktail Day! We’re usually all about wine but we love cocktails, too. On Thursday nights, not only can you enjoy wine by the glass or bottle, you can also have one of George’s signature cocktails made with NY State Spirits! Which one is your favorite?Button

Happy International Riesling Day! March 13, 1435 marks the earliest documented mention of Riesling. On this day in 1435, Count John IV of Katzenelnbogen’s 22-shilling purchase of six Riesslingen vines (later becoming known as Riesling) from a Rüsselheim vineyard gave us our first recorded mention of the new white grape variety. Did you know we have FOUR Rieslings? Dry Riesling Estate, Dry Riesling, Riesling (off dry), and Bubble Riesling! 📷: @molly.b_photographsButton

Pét-Nat Release Party Thursday, March 6, 2025 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Whether you are new to the world of Pétillant-Naturel, also known as Pét-Nats, or an established fan, you’ll want to join us for a special party to celebrate the release of our two Pét-Nats from the 2024 vintage. The Pétillant-Naturel method predates Méthode Champenoise as a way to produce a bubbly wine. Wine is bottled before it’s done fermenting, and completes its fermentation in the bottle, resulting in fun, lower alcohol sparkling wine. We invite you to taste these exciting wines for yourself and learn about their intriguing production methods from head winemaker Wes Andrew. The evening will include: 🔸Tastings of our Pét-Nat Gewürztraminer/Aromella 2024 and Pét-Nat Zweigelt/Diamond 2024 🔸Delicious hors d’oeuvres from Sapore 🔸Sneak peek of our Skin-Ferment 2021 orange wine 🔸Special Pét-Nat cocktails from George + our full wine and cocktail menu We hope to see you!Button

2024 Harvest Wrap-up from Wes 2024 was the warmest year we’ve had in the last 50 years, starting out with a slightly early bud break and continuing through the season with consistent growing degree day accumulation. GDDs measure the time the temperatures are in the ideal range for growing—generally between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. We ended the season with a little over 2900 GDDs, similar to 2010 and 2021. We usually expect somewhere around 2500 GDDs. Rainfall was close to average, making for a very nice growing season. The vines made it through winter with minimal damage and were well-balanced throughout the season. We also had an average crop yield, which was very welcome after some freeze damage last year. We’re excited to see how the wines finishButton
