Skin Fermented Gewürztraminer/Vignoles 2017
This golden, slightly cloudy, unfiltered wine possesses the structure, body, and tannins of a red wine with the acidity of a white. The richly textured mouthfeel with savory and earthy overtones reaches your palate leaving a zing of orange marmalade, grapefruit rind, and dried flowers and creates a complex flavor profile with a long lingering finish.
BLEND: 80% Gewürztraminer, 20% Vignoles
Gewürztraminer and Vignoles were separately harvested, destemmed, and bin-fermented for fourteen days. After pressing, the wines finished malolactic fermentation and were aged separately in neutral French and American oak barrels for thirty months prior to blending and bottling.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy with local mushroom pâté with pickled ramps, Salmon crudo with avocado, mango, cucumber and chives, or seeded nut crisps with blue cheese and ginger-apricot jam.
Skin-contact wines are white wines made like red wines. They ferment with the grape skins, which give wine its color, hence the term "orange wine."

This was a “why not” try - and it was worth it! Somewhat of a shock - the color is a lovely pastel shade of Orange! It is light and dry - perfect summer wine for a sophisticated palate. Pairs well with poultry, seafood, pork and porch-sitting. Don’t kick yourself - buy the case.

While visiting the finger lakes we decided we should try this wine. It sounded so different! We loved it. We bought a bottle when there and ordered more once we got home. It’s delicious on a warm summer night with some grilled chicken or shrimp. You should try it. You won’t be disappointed.
