The main reason we decided to bottle a single block CF was to highlight its outstanding ripeness and unique character. Our "North Block Six" is the largest contiguous block of one variety on our farm. Consisting of 26 rows, 3.2 acres, this block was started in 1998 and 2000. The soil varies from silt/loam to silt/clay.
We chose this as a single vineyard designation to honor Bill Moffett who first planted wine-growing grapes on this farm back in the 1970’s.
This non-traditional blend that we dub a “Super Seneca” uses only vinifera grapes whereby the blend changes from year-to-year.
Native to France's Rhone Valley, Syrah has found a home on the shale covered hillsides of Seneca Lake, producing elegant wines brimming with dark fruit, spice and earth.
